Statement - Conclusions :
Questions from the statement and conclusions topic comprise a statement followed by a set of conclusions for the same. Candidates need to choose the most appropriate conclusion regarding the statement given.
Conclusion is a fact that can be truly inferred from the contents of a given sentence. This type of questions consist of a statement or a set of statements, followed by certain inference(s) based on the facts of statements. Here, candidates are required to approach the questions with solutions from different angles. This approach basically emphasises the need for being more systematic and logical in drawing inferences. Therefore, consequent effect of a statement has to be analysed before reaching the correct conclusion(s).
The following points should be taken into consideration while solving question based on statement and conclusions.
Three/Four Conclusions : - In this type of questions, one statement and three/four conclusions are given. We have to analyse that which one supports the sentence.
Example 1 :
Statements : Local self Government brings effective governance. Therefore, villages have better roads when they have local self Government.
Conclusions :
(a) I and II (b) Only I (c) Only II (d) II and III
Solution : (b) From the statement, it can be concluded that effective governance means better roads.

Solution : - (d) Option (d) can be concluded from the Statement I, as only rich can afford air travel. So, all those who travel by air are rich.
